Oxalic Acid is produced by the metabolism of glyoxylic or ascorbic acid in the body. In laboratory, it is formulated by oxidizing sucrose using nitric acid in presence of a catalyst known as vanadium pentoxide. This acid is used as a mordant in dyeing processes, bleaches, cleaning agents, and also in sugar syrup to prevent parasitic mites. Oxalic Acid is an organic compound with a chemical formula C2H2O4 and 90.03 g/mol. It is also a chelating agent and can be utilized to chelate metal cations.
